Project Investment:

Project Highlight:

Anyone wishing to engage Island First Nations in business/economic development can find all available primary contact information using this map.

The coastal economic landscape has gone through a period of rapid and significant change in the past few years as numerous treaty settlements are complete or underway. First Nations are a significant part of the regional economic landscape and the opportunity for business partnerships and economic development investment is quickly growing.  However, up-to-date and consistent information about First Nations on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast has been lacking or difficult to access.

The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance has established a portal that features an easy-to-navigate map highlighting the three major tribal areas. It guides visitors to contact information for all 53 First Nations, Tribal Councils and First Nation economic development organizations as well as direct links to their websites.

This portal at VIEA.CA provides an easy-to-use, up-to-date resource to identify First Nations and First Nations economic development organizations in the region helping prospective investors do business on Vancouver Island. This project, completed in 2014, supports the regional economic climate which encourages inclusive economic growth and prosperity.

Island Coastal Economic Trust funded this project on 2014 through the Investment Readiness program.
