We recognize, honour, and respect the Indigenous Peoples and territories in which the staff, board, and advisory committees of Island Coastal Economic Trust live and work. We are privileged to serve in a region that has a rich and diverse cultural heritage, where Indigenous Peoples have cared for the lands and waters since time immemorial. These territories are home to a number of First Nations, Tribes, Governments, and Modern Treaty Nations with distinct governance systems, languages, knowledge systems, and ways of being.

As we work toward inclusive and resilient economic futures, we do so with a deep appreciation for the histories, contributions, and rights of the Kwak̓wala/Bakwam’kala, Nuučaan̓uɫ, Éy7á7juuthem, Ligwilda’xw, Pəntl’áč, She shashishalhem, Hul’q’umi’num’, diitiidʔaatx̣, SENĆOŦEN, Skwxwú7mesh, Lekwungen, and T’Sou-ke speaking peoples.

Our office is located within the territory of the K’ómoks First Nation; we respectfully acknowledge that the land we gather on is on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
