Amplify Our Community Impact

Project Organization:

Project Investment:

  • Total Budget: $31,200

The Gibsons Public Market is a multi-use facility that includes a Salish Sea marine life centre, a local market and indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings and events. This project had two components: improvements to audio quality in the Atrium, and tech enhancements to the Coastal Room. Physical distancing guidelines and poor acoustics were negatively impacting rental revenue in the Atrium and were resolved with noise-dampening technology.

The absence of multi-media tools to support virtual and hybrid events in the Coastal Room was restricting rental options. This space was transformed into a virtual and hybrid meeting and conference room, with the addition of a complete conferencing system and related technologies, and is easily configured for everything from business meetings and corporate private events to health and wellness classes.

The society can now offer improved accessibility and convenience to their rental customers, and plan for future online events. Feedback has been positive about the improved acoustics and tech options for speakers, musicians and audiences.

Island Coastal Economic Trust approved funding for this project in 2021 through the Community Placemaking program.
