This project facilitated the construction of new, safe, outdoor spaces for meeting and socializing during the pandemic. Twelve patio tables were installed along 1st street in Ladysmith’s downtown core to support Covid19 distancing protocols while aiding in economic recovery. The tables were designed to be accessible for all ages and mobility levels, and strategically placed outside of food venues to expand seating for those establishments.
The town also installed attractive outdoor lighting along, creating a welcoming atmosphere into the evening hours. The patio tables had an immediate positive impact and continue to be well-used by locals and visitors alike. This project has become a permanent fixture to help build back and grow downtown vibrancy.
Island Coastal Economic Trust approved funding for this project in 2020 through the Community Placemaking program.
