About:

Oceanside Initiatives is an economic development partnership, created by the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce, and includes representation from Parksville, Qualicum, the Regional District of Nanaimo, Vancouver Island University, and School District 69. The group was originally created to develop a competitive analysis and marketing strategy aimed at attracting ‘lifestyle entrepreneurs’ to the region. This project is a segue to some of the lessons learned in the first project which identified the need to a broader, comprehensive economic development strategy. This project creates a multiyear strategic plan, which reflects community values and interests, developed through community and stakeholder consultations. The plan includes analysis of complementary and conflicting priorities, tactical details for the implementation of marketing tools as well as strategies to monitor progress and measure success.
The completed plan will provide the community with the strategic foundations required to implement more formal economic development service delivery in the region and a roadmap to guide future economic development activity.
The Oceanside Initiatives Strategic Plan project was completed in 2015.
