We provided a training bursary to Jennifer Knox, Economic Development Officer with K’ómoks Economic Development Corporation, to attend the Simon Fraser University’s Community Economic Development program in 2019.
Island Coastal Economic Trust provides up to $1,000 to cover tuition and travel expenses to attend focussed, short-term economic development training programs or economic development conferences held in the Trust service region.
Bursaries are open to individuals living in the Trust service region who are actively involved in community economic development or transitioning to an economic development role. Priority will be given to individuals from rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
In 2019, we provided sponsorship funding to support the ‘Connect, Money, Impact’ convening of social entrepreneurs and impact investors by Social Enterprise Catalyst held at Vancouver Island University.
Island Coastal Economic Trust sponsors regional learning events that align with the Trust’s vision to build a sustainable and resilient coastal economy. Events must be regionally focused and provide training, networking, planning or other learning opportunities related to economic development or diversification. The Trust can provide up to $5,000 per event.
The program is open to events organized by Indigenous communities, including Indigenous development corporations, local and regional governments, and not-for-profit organizations. Events must take place in the Trust service region.
Sponsorship proposals are accepted year-round until the annual funding has been allocated. Proposals must be submitted at least six months prior to the event.
