Hornby Island Economic Action Plan

Hornby Island Community Economic Enhancement Corporation (HICEEC)

Sources of Funding
ICET:$5,000
HICEEC:$5,000
Total Budget: $10,000

Since 2008, like many Gulf Island communities, Hornby Island has seen its economy go through multiple changes. With a decrease in ferry traffic during the shoulder season, a significant decline in school enrollment, and increasing median age, Hornby Island recognized the need to look towards the future and develop a proactive economic strategy.

The project, led by an Economic Action Plan committee, was made up of community members and Hornby Island Community Economic Enhancement Corporation board members.  Project activities included community consultations, research, gap and trend analysis as well as a review of best practices.

The result is a strategic plan which that provides a clear road map for the community to help guide its economic priorities and long term investment attraction strategies.
