Project Highlight:

Campbell River's Modern Entrepreneur at the 50th Parallel is a space of innovation, conversation, and enrichment for today’s entrepreneur. It provides access to podcasts, professional development resources, and insight on current trends and technologies designed to support business owners.

This project is comprised of a suite of initiatives designed to strengthen Campbell River’s growing innovation and entrepreneurship economy, including supports for businesses and entrepreneurs wishing to expand into national and international markets.

The Modern Entrepreneur Innovation Series project, led by the City’s economic development department, addresses the growing need to engage differently with community entrepreneurs and their markets, and offers a mix of virtual and in-person skill-development, networking and expansion programming. Components delivered in 2022 and 2023 include a podcast, speaker series, online business hub and hackathon.

The final component, the Business Innovation Hackathon, is being developed in partnership with The Campbell River Area Angel Group (CRAAG) and promoted to post-secondary students to help local businesses solve pandemic-related challenges.

Island Coastal Economic Trust approved funding for this project in 2020 through the Investment Readiness program.
