Port Alberni’s economy has historically been founded on industrial development, however recent initiatives in secondary wood processing and aerospace manufacturing are diversifying opportunities for investment in the Alberni Valley. To maximize the potential from these initiatives, modern marketing tools were needed to showcase Port Alberni an attractive location to invest and build a business.
This project, an investment attraction portal, has created new digital assets and an enhanced resource for investors to gather information about opportunities in Port Alberni. The portal expands functionality of the Port Alberni website with an online business application form, smartphone functionality and videos that showcase the community’s attributes and favorable investment opportunities.
Port Alberni’s improved and expanded web presence will help leverage new investment in emerging sectors and supply chain opportunities. The project is expected to benefit the existing aerospace, value-added forestry and marine sectors, and increase capacity to respond and capture prospective investment. The project website (www.chooseportalberni.ca) launched in early 2021.
Island Coastal Economic Trust approved funding for this project in 2018 through the Investment Readiness program.
We work in reciprocal relationships with coastal communities across the ancestral territories of the Kwak̓wala, Nuučaan̓uɫ, Éy7á7juuthem, Ligwilda'xw, Pəntl'áč, She shashishalhem, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Hul’q’umi’num’, diitiidʔaatx̣, SENĆOŦEN, Lekwungen, and T’Sou-ke speaking peoples.
